adidas Top Sala CSC
This special edition shoe is a performance lifestyle soccer boot featuring a custom design on the fairly unknown Top Sala model. The Top Sala has been worn by top pros due to its light, soft materials that make it incredibly flexible and responsive.
Housed in a box that is custom designed by the CSC, the packaging includes specially created tissue paper and a printed CSC booklet. The booklet showcases the club's history and is published to celebrate the occasion of the CSC + adidas shoe collaboration. It contains a visual record of their games and the writings of Chinatown local and CSC member Laijon Liu, whose words capture the spirit of the club and explain why six years after its inception, even in the dead of winter, the love of soccer still gets the crew out of bed to have a kick around before heading to work. It's about the beauty of the game, but most of all it's about the friendships forged on the field.
The Chinatown Soccer Club formed following the first installment of Fanatic, an annual adidas organized soccer tournament that was created in 2002 during the World Cup as an immersive experience of soccer and community in New York. Today, the CSC is a semi-organized crew that meets year-round for friendly soccer matches in NYC's Chinatown neighborhood. The club is made up of a diverse group of players, most of which are successful artists, photographers, skateboarders, graphic designers and all-around good people.
To celebrate the release of the shoe adidas and CSC will create a clubhouse in central Vienna, Austria, home of the 2008 European Cup, which will feature artifacts to showcase the club's history and introduce the CSC positive brand of soccer. Other activities such as Euro '08 screenings, foosball tournaments and off-site matches between CSC and Vienna's finest, will take place in and around the clubhouse. Overall the clubhouse, resembling a traditional soccer pub, will be a place to hang out, enjoy some local beer, engage and entertain soccer fans and locals.
